2011 STATE TRACK MEET REVIEW
COUGARS CROWN 3 STATE CHAMPS AND TEAM RUNNER-UP Taylor Huseman highlighted the Cougars performance at the state meet winning 2 individual championships and a runner up finish along with an anchor leg on the state championship Medley Relay. On Thursday Taylor collected his first medal of the meet with a 2nd place finish in 3200 with a time of 9:39.19. The Cougar Medley Relay team of Jesse Partlow, Brody Eischeid, Brandon Wessels and Huseman collected a gold medal running a time of 3:34.16. Taylor won the 800 meter run in school record time of 1:57.16 in an exciting race and then came back 2 hours later to win the 1600 with a time of 4:22.73. The Cougars 4X400 team of Eischeid, Cole Rowen, Braden Moser and Wessels finished with a 3rd place finish. The 4X100 team also were medalists placing 4th running a time of 44.45. The 4X100 team consisted of Partlow, Connor Brown, Eischeid and Wessels. The last scoring event for the Cougars was a 5th place finish by the 4X200 team of Partlow, Eischeid. Wessels and Wessels. Other participants at the state meet were Josh Markert in the Long Jump, The Shuttle Hurdle team of Rowen, Brown, Partlow and Trevor Schreier, Moser also ran the Open 400. The Cougars finished in the team standings as State Runnerup to 3-time team defending champion Madrid. The guys did a great job and had a great showing in Des Moines.
