Title I Reading Recovery

What is Title I?

The Title I program is a federally funded program which helps strengthen the student’s weak areas in reading. Assistance is offered in grades K through 3. A student’s reading progress is reviewed through testing and input from teachers and parents.

Elementary students attend classes in the Title I reading rooms. The program offers supplemental instruction time. Reading is individualized and the student progresses at his/her own rate. A variety of teaching materials are used.

Progress reports will be shared at Parent-Teacher conferences. Appointments may be arranged to discuss a child’s progress. Parents are always welcome to visit during their child’s class time.

  • The Title I program strives to…
    support the basic reading program
    improve attitudes toward reading
    encourage appreciation of extra-curricular reading+
    improve the child’s self-concept
help transfer reading skills to all content areas
